Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin)

ITANAGAR | Mar 06 | PHE&WS Minister Bamang Felix today gave a clarion call to field level officers to tighten their belts and work with a holistic approach to achieve the goal of Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) and make the state open defecation free (ODF) in one year, ahead of national target of 02.10.19 next.
While reviewing progress of state’s SBM (G) here today in a hurriedly called meeting of field level district officers including EEs, AEs and Consultants, he stressed on assessment of ground level status of all GPs and blocks within two weeks, including reassessment of additional households & non-existent/defunct toilets to turn ODF a reality, according to an official release.
Since the flagship programme, one of the priority sector of present GoAP led by Chief Minister Pema Khandu and directly monitored by PMO’s AMOS regularly, the implementing agency has to make all out efforts for its timely achievement, said Felix, flanked by his along with Parliamentary Secretary Kumsi Sidisow.
He assured to take up issues concerning left out habitations and defunct/non-existent toilets, serving as a bottleneck with Union Drinking Water & Sanitation Ministry for additional support.
Expressing happiness over better performance of field level officers in executing various SBM (G) components, PHE&WS commissioner H.K. Shalla, in his concluding remark, called for preparedness of all field functionaries for effective implementation of direct benefit transfer (DBT) wef 01.04. 7 next in all payments to beneficiaries under SBM(G).
Chief Engineer, PHE&WS CE (Sanitation) Toko Jyoti earlier highlighted activities undertaken and progress of the SBM (G).
