ITANAGAR | Mar 30 | Responding to rising public demands for more train services, Railway Ministry has decided to introduce Shatabdi Express from Dibrugarh to Naharlagun for which coaches have arrived at Dibrugarh.
Once introduced, this would third direct train service to state capital after Prime Minister Narendra Modi had flagged off daily Naharlagun-Guwahati Donyi-Polo Express and every Tuesday Naharlagun-Delhi three-tier AC Express from here on 20.02.15 last.
The 12-coach tri-weekly service on Monday, Wednesday & Friday from Dibrugarh and Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday from Naharlagun will come as a relief for huge commuters frequenting to Dibrugarh as a link between upper Assam and Itanagar, a NFR release said.
The train starting week at 5 am from both stations and will reach destination 8.15 pm covering a distance of 838.8-km in 15 hours 15 minutes. However, the date to introduce the service will be announced after approval by Railway Board, the release added.
