‘Oorja-CAPF U-19 Football Hunt Tournament’

NAHARLAGUN | Apr 30 | Arunachal Pradesh soccer icon Gumpe Rime, raised the curtain & unveiled the mascot ‘Gabru’ and official logo to mark the beginning of Under-17 FIFA World Cup-2017, being hosted by India, at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium here today.

The ITBP is hosting the state level tourney of  Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated tournament for both boys and girls, themed ‘Oorja-CAPF U-19 Football Hunt Tournament’ with Gumpe Rime as brand ambassador.

Rime, an international football player, said that there are lot of talents in the state but hidden. Given such exposure, I am confident, they will excel to win laurels for India, Arunachal in particularly.

“If you are committed and disciplined no hurdles could stop you from achieving success in life, Rime said with conviction.

He also lauded the ITBP for guarding the frontiers braving freezing cold and tough hilly terrains of this hilly state.

ITBP North East Frontier commander IG Manoj Singh Rawat highlighting the objectives of the as a curtain raiser event said that it aims at creating soccer fervor, to select promising players to represent India in different global events and recruit emerging players in central armed police forces. To be played in three phases in all states/ UTs in May-August next in league matches in Chimpu Sports Complex while  final match followed by closing ceremony will be conducted at this venue on May 10 next. It intends to enthuse the youth towards this game and promote  its across the country and its 10-day first phase will begin at this venue tomorrow where eight top (boys and girls each) teams will take part.

Yupia-based 31 ITBP Bn commandant P N Prasad also gave a clarion call to the team to play with commitment for glorying India.

The winner team will get Rs. 50,000 along with Indrajit Naamchoom Cup, runners-up and hard liner will get Rs. 30,000 and Rs. 20,000 respectively and the best player will get Rs 4000 cash with Best Player Trophy, the release added.

Host of ITBP officers and jawans from within the state and NE India including DIGs S K Sharma, Nirbhai Singh & G C Upadhaya, commandant Nishit Chandra, Itanagar HQs 2nd officer Brijmohan Singh, assistant commander Anand Kumar, among other attended the event besides the players of Arunachal boys’ and girls’ teams.

However, Yupia-based 31 ITBP Bn 2I/C Abhisek Abinash  managing the show was on his toes since early morning while a good number women cops including inspector Sunam Yadav were visibly working on the ground, justifying  ITBP’s policy to empower power by employing them in the force.

Rime pins hope on Arunachal team

On his expectation from state team when dozens of Arunachalees without training have won national and global medals, Rime expressed his confidence that the team would do exceedingly well. Even wining the PM’s Trophy to represent India in FIFA World Cup-2017  cannot be ruled, he said.

What our youths need is a right platform for exposure which would ensure them to excel, he said with confidence.

More sports job quota likely: Karbak

Terming sports as a Himalayan sector, Sports and Youth Affairs Parliamentary Secretary Nyamar Karbak said that the GoAP has been contemplating serious steps to promote and benefit the young talents.

Though the state has an avowed sports policy to offer 10% reservation in police recruitment for regional, national& global medal winners, but the present Govt is considering 5% reservation for them in other departments too.

Moreover, to encourage players to play in Olympic games, the GoAP has already announced Rs 3, 2 and 1 crore for winning Olympic gold, silver and bronze medal respectively and Rs 25 lakh for participant. Both were flanked by sate’s sports director Tadar Apa and ITBP officers.
