In his inaugural address to 5th state level shotokan Karate-Do tournament as chief guest, he said that the GoAP has given priority to sports sector while offered job reservation for meritorious sportsperson who excel and win medals at national and international levels.
The medal winners will not only get their recognition but also employment as per their qualification to earn sustainable livelihood, said Tara also Arunachal Karate Association president.
Tawang and West Kameng districts are lacking behind karate compared to other districts and need promotion, he said and lauded social worker-cum-organising committee chairman Sheriff Nimasow, local MLA Kumsi Sidisow for providing all support and cooperation in arranging the tournament.
Arunachal is regional karate champion since last three years due to hard labour and sincerity of karatekas. They won medals and were employed while few have brought laurel and made their presence in global sports canvas.
Tara further appealed to the parents to encourage their wards to join karate as a career option apart of academic activities which would not only help maintain their health but keep them mentally and physically fit.
All Arunachal Pradesh Shotokan Karate-Do Association president Sensei Tai Hipik elaborated the emergence of traditional and modern karates from martial arts, state participation in karatekas in various levels including world.
Nimasow while lauding Tara and technical director Sihan S Devan Sharma for promoting karate by guiding the young talents, appealed to the organisation to recognise Bhalukpong club. He also thank MLA Sidisow and Chief Minister Pema Khandu for supporting the event.
Total 147 youths are taking part in various age specific category-wise events including below 13, 16 for boys and girls in katha, Sharma said, adding 22 officials including 12 technical representatives from Karate Association of India are supervising the tournament.
Sharma termed the event of national level in which more teams are taking part this year.
Aka Elite Society vice president Labi Dususow, AGS Lama Sidisow, Bhalukpong CO Khoda Rakhi, among others, were present.
