Teachers award coporal penalty against students, ASSU for action

ITANAGAR | Nov 28 | All Sagalee students Union (ASSU) has lodged a written complaint with Sagalee police station on Monday against three teachers of Kastruba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, located in New Sagalee, for their alleged misbehavior with class VI and VII students.

The teachers have reportedly resorted to corporal punishment against the students by ordering them to undress before others students, on  November 23, a punishable offence under section 17(1) and 17(2) of RTE Act 2009, the complaint by  ASSU president Teli Runghi and vice president Tana June Tara, made available to the press said.

Moreover, of the  88 students 14 were forced to undress completely while rest 74 partially naked and they were told not to disclose the matter to anyone, the complaint said, attaching photographs.

Expressing concern it said that the students have been subjected to  harassment by the mentioned teachers were not safe under their care.

Thus, the ASSU while condemning such misbehavior and ill treatment urged the police to initiate a necessary action against the erring teachers soon.
