Army to develop 8 border villagers, hold recruitment in all districts

 

ITANAGAR | Dec 20 | Eight villages of Arunachal Pradesh located along international border have been identified by the Army, at the initiative of state Governor Brig. (Retd) B.D. Mishra, to developed into self sustaining units with proper living amenities for the villages.

This decision was made known while Dr Mishra was holding discussion with Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi today on various issues relating border. He briefed her on border security environment and high morale of the soldiers deployed there. Referring to his recent interactions GoCs of  3 Corps and 4 Corps, whose troops have been guarding Indo-China border, she lauded the jawans for their good works and welfare activities taken up the army for border villagers.

After it was decided to take up more welfare schemes the Army for border inhabitants soon, Dr Mishra advocated early start of work of proposed  Sainik Schools. It was decided that their foundation stones would be laid soon to begin construction latest by February next.

Dr Mishra earlier met Chief of the Army staff Gen Bipin Rawat when they discussed about ensuing army recruitment rally.

Dr Mishra requested him for pre-recruitment programmes in every district to motivate for maximum youth to join the Army. This will provide employment avenues besides opportunity to serve the country.

Gen Rawat assured that army teams will go to every district to help prospective candidates in documentation, physical fitness and train them for recruitment, likely to be in next February 2nd week. He instructed army recruitment DG, also present, accordingly. (PRO)
