Kameng turns garbage dump, AEKDSU asks DC to prohibit

SEPPA | Jan 16 | Kameng River in East Kameng district, once considered potable by people, has now turned into a source of dumping garbage and waste material posing a serious threat, not only to its future and environmental condition of this district HQs town but also to the aquatic life.

All East Kameng District Students’ Union (AEKDSU) appalled at the widespread pollution today questioned district administration for its muteness on the issue and urged to issue an order soon to prohibit dumping of garbage and domestic waste into the river.

“The river used by the people, especially those living along its banks is being polluted unchecked and is bound to cause serious environmental impact and health hazards”,  AEKDSU president Chakang Yangda said.
