HARMUTY | Jan 30 | Three persons died on the spot today in a tragic head-on collision between a Mahindra Bolero (AR 05/0012) and an Hyundai Eon (AS 07E 8346) along NH 52, just 3-km away from Harmuty toward Laluk under North Lakhimpur district of Assam.
The accident took place early morning when the Bolero was moving towards Laluk and Eon was coming from other direction but both vehicles were on high-speed, Laluk police station officer in-charge Ajit Kumar Bhuyan said.
Harmuty outpost in-charge SI Anil Borah informed that the deceased were identified as Kumud Pasoni (30), Md. Hajrat Ali (50) and Faruque Ahmed (30) all from Laluk PS area. Their mortal remains handed over to family members after conducting post mortem for conducting last rite, he added, adding the occupants of the Bolero sustained serious injuries, including Seppa EAC A Padung who had left for Itanagar for his treatment.
Bolero driver of Fetung Natung, detined by the police has detained for further interrogation informed, said that he was taking Padung from Itanagar to Longding. The Eon suddenly lost control and skidded toward their vehicle, he added.
Meanwhile, ASP Shantanu Kumar Dutta said that after removing the ill fated vehicle the legal formalities are being completed but the driver has been detained.
