ITANAGAR | Jan 31 | Governor Brig (Retd) B.D. Mishra addressing a public meeting at Jairampur today said that the GoI led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is giving special focus for development of NE region.
More than 28 GoI and GoAP schemes and programmes are being implemented in Changlang district. But the people should be willing partners of development by ensuring transparency and accountability.
Expressing concern on health and education status, he said that the State require health infrastructure, equipment, critical specialists and staff while teachers and infrastructure in education. These issues have been taken up at various levels including seeking funds from the GoI to mitigate the challenges.
Reiterating his concern about opium cultivation and gun culture, he called upon the people for concerted effort to address such problems in Tirap, Longding and Changlang districts citing opium cultivation of Afghanistan and gun culture of LTTE & Pakistan which have destroyed those nations.
Legal Metrology & Consumer Affair ,Parliamentary Secretary-cum- Local MLA Laisam Simai highlighted aspiration of Changlang people, including special employment drive for TLC youth, enhancement of border area development, degree college, Sainik School and rehabilitation centre.
Later, the governor with his wife visited World War II cemetery and laid wreaths at the War Memorial. He also vested the school where he addressed the students.
Meanwhile, the governor also distributed 600 solar lights to villagers and GBs in 13 Assam Rifles cantonment under its civic action plan and hoped that benevolent plan will strengthen security forces relations with the civilians.
This marked the conclusion of three-day district tour of the governor. (PRO)
