ITANAGAR | Mar 20 | Terming good health key to success in all fields in life, PHE & IPR Minister Bamang Felix today exhorted the GenNext to build themselves for a stronger nation before flagging off mini marathon – Run for sports- at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Naharlagun today.

The event, organised by sports department, aimed at encouraging you all to maintain a good physical health and mental spirit which would also contribute to maintaining communal harmony.

Sports director Tadar Appa said that it has been launched to encourage and motivate the people of all ages and background to improve their mental and physical health through sports and yoga.

Though 800 registered on online, but 480 took part most of whom completed the 12-km run till sports complex at Yupia.

District marathon 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners were given chance to take part while it was open to all from Capital Complex.

The participants were mostly from RGU, Sange Laden Sports Academy, Sports Association of India, Donyi Polo School of Hearing Impaired, ITBP, state police and other schools.

Men’s category: Mudang Omo of Lower Subansiri topped followed by Karbu Kena of Upper Subansiri (2nd) and  Bamo Tanang of Capital Complex (3rd).

Women’s category: Yabang Tali of East Siang, Anung Wangsa of SLSA and Obur Siboh of SLSA stood 1st, 2nd & 3rd respectively.

The winners 1st, 2nd & 3rd were given Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000, Rs 20,000 respectively besides a trophy and certificate each by state’s sports celebrity at Banquet Hall as part of two-day sports seminar.

Sports & Youth Affairs Parliamentary Secretary Nyamar Karbak, Sports Association of Arunachal chairman Bamang Tago, sports secretary Dani Salu,  youth affairs director D K Dinglow, Khelo India Khelo mission director Gumnya Karbak, Arunachal Karate-do Association president Likha Tara, among others, were present.
