NAHARLAGUN | May 30 | Political will alone key to herald a new era in any field, political or social or economical, Power (Electrical) Minster Tamyio Taga attributed to the new building coming up to replace the heritage NEFA time structures of his department.

Works are on to construct a double-storied concrete building to function as electrical SE office in A-sector here to replace the totally ramshackle structure built during 1976 for central public works department (CPWD), a two-in-one as godown and garage for power and public works departments. The labourers are busy in digging holes while rod frames are being erected from ones despite intermittent rain falls.

Responding to question – Is the present GoAP on a mission to carve a niche for itself by its visible actions? – Taga quipped certainly yes.

Interestingly, N Krishnamorthy served first as SE (29.03.76 to 25.08.77) of Arunachal Pradesh electrical circle-I of CPWD while Darshan Singh served as SE (06.04.87 to 13.05.93) in the same building, but retired as chief engineer.

EE (Planning)  informed that the GoAP has sanctioned Rs 5.77 crore during 2017-18 while superintendent Kuru Gambo said the 26-feet long & 24-feet breadth multi-structure office building has a year-long completion target.

Local lady Toku Onya, who has joined in 1989 as a contingency staff along with Girija Rajan to be promoted later, saw this office not only as CPWD (E) office but also electrical workshop in the present garage while the godown located behind was for electrical goods for whole state.

Onya also worked with SE Darshan Singh, recalled visit of former chief minister Gegong Apang and former minister Tadar Tang.

The ongoing construction of new concrete single-storied building for power house here was highlighted in this daily’s May 23 edition.
