Maintain tradition and culture for identity: Phurpa

SINGCHUNG, Sept 13: Dirang MLA Phurpa Tsering has urged the Bogun community to maintain their age-old tradition and cultural heritage for their identity.
Addressing a huge gathering of Bogun community and others of Singhchung circle of West Kameng district on Monday as chief guest while inaugurating 5th Pham Kho Sowai Festival here, he said that “our tradition and culture are our identity which should be maintained and passed on to younger generation for their protection for posterity”.
He advised them to stay in tune with the indigenous culture and custom as “One’s own identity should grow and bond together as we move towards the new era”.
The Pham Kho Sowai Festival Celebration Committee (PHSFCC) chairman Dawa Sarai, GS Dorjee Wangdi Glow also spoke.
Local MLA Kumsi Sidisow as chief patron vowed to be a man of unity and prosperity by remaining with the locals for any crisis faced by them. He assured all support for development of the area and to serve the people with outmost sincerity besides support in preservation and protection of the tribal identity.
Singchung ADC T. Pada, HoDs, Govt. staff, GBs, former PRI leaders and locals were part of the day-long celebration that witnessed local rituals, cultural programmes and traditional sporting.
