Chai Memorial Running Football Tourney | Chai to inspire Mishmis for invaluable contributions: Pul

TEZU, Sept 26: The 11th T Chai Memorial Running Football Tournament-2018 was kicked off by Hayuliang MLA Dasanglu Pul in a colourful function at Jubilee ground here on Tuesday.

Recalling praiseworthy deeds of late T Chai for establishment of Tezu township, Pul in her inaugural address as chief guest, said that “Late Chai contribution will always be an epitome and inspiration for Mishmi community. This tournament to promote soccer among the youth is a greatest homage to him.” She advised the youth to opt sports as career as the GoAP has made job reservation for award winning sports persons but 10% in police department.

Lohit D Karma Leki as a guest of honour lauded Chai family for promoting football by involving the youth and urged them to play with true sportsmanship spirit by maintaining discipline.

Former minister Nakul Chai, in his address, appreciated the players for their active participation to make the tournament successful.

In all 29 teams from Namsai, Lower Dibang Valley, Anjaw, Lohit and Sadiya (Assam), divided into four groups, are taking part in the 15-day knock out tournament (from Sept 25 to Oct 9) whose final will be played on Oct 12 next. The tournament is being organized by Chai family in collaboration with sports & youth affairs department.

United Loiliang FC thrashed HASC Namsai by 2/1 goals in keenly fought opening match on Wednesday to the applause of the huge gathering including Sports & Youths Affairs Minister Dr Mohesh Chai, Lohit HoDs led by SP DW Thongon, Chai family members from, Krick & Boury Memorial School students,.

Thursday matches: Danglat FC Vs Wakro Town Club (1st match) and Mao-Tai FC Vs Khoraba FC (2nd match).
