MLAs misusing MLALADF, few enjoying Par Secys facilities: Sangha

ITANAGAR, Oct 04: Few of the total 23 parliamentary secretaries are still enjoying their facilities, like vehicles and staff given then, at the cost of additional burden to state exchequer even after losing their posts.

Claiming this in a release on Thursday, All Arunachal Pradesh Panchayat Parishad secretary general Sangha Tagik Masang said that state chief secretary on August 14 last, in tune with the direction of Itanagar Permanent Bench of Gauhati High Court, had issued an order: “All 23 members of Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly shall cease to be parliamentary secretaries”.

Enjoying the facilities by them amounted to total violation of HC order which they should know as lawmakers themselves and abide by the HC directive and chief secretary order in public interest.

However, all MLAs are provided with vehicles, allowances for fuel and driver, contingency allowance etc but still many demand vehicles from senior officers affecting the official works. Such practices beyond official purview should be halted forthwith, he demanded.

Moreover, each MLA is provided with Rs two crore as Local Area Development Fund (MLALADF) aimed at proper development of area-specific needs to reduce the development gap. However, most of the MLAs have been misusing this fund defeating its very purpose; he alleged and advocated that the untied fund of Rs 50 lakh and Rs 20 lakh for the DCs and ADCs respectively should be enhanced to facilitate proper development.
