India, China Armies celebrate Diwali at Bumla

TAWANG, Nov 08: Diwali was celebrated jointly by Indian and Chinese Army (PLA)  personnel at  Bum La along Indo-China border in Tawang district on Wednesday as part of border personnel meeting (BPM), the last one this year.

Indian Army was led by Colonel Prasenjit Kar while Chinese side by Colonel Yang Zi Ming and the ceremonial BPM begun with hoisting of national flags of both nations, lighting of traditional diyas, signature for improving military to military ties at ground level followed by ceremonial address.

Both sides highlighted importance of maintaining peace & tranquility along border areas and ensuring sanctity of LAC. The leaders stressed on continuous improvement of bilateral ties at ground level to ultimately act as a catalyst at strategic & diplomatic levels to foster cordial ties between the two great nations. This was followed by colorful cultural performances by Indian troupes showcasing ‘Real India’ as the BPM was organized by Indian Army. (DIPRO)
