DC bans stone crushers, illegal mining

PASIGHAT, Nov 12: East Siang District administration banned operating stone crusher units and illegal mining in the district with immediate effect in a bid to protect the district from further erosion by Siang River.

After public complaints regarding reckless operation of stone crushers and collection of minor minerals in the region, mines & minerals/disaster management secretary visited the site on 4.11.18 to see for himself all illegal activities.

Thus, DC Tamiyo Tatak, in his ban order, said that repeated flash flood and normal flood of Siang River besides recent peculiar water flow was stated to be due to repeated blockage of Siang river in the Tibet Region there is every likelihood of breaching and erosion of River bank due to such illegal mining posing direct threat on human habitation, life and property.

Thus, the order with immediate effect has been issued for the greater interest the district.
