ZIRO, Nov 14: First batch of a fully loaded refrigerator van carrying 5.78 metric ton of A-grade kiwis was flagged off from here on Tuesday last by DHO Komri Murtem through North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Cooperation (NERAMAC).
This as per MoU signed between North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Cooperation and Ziro Kiwi Growers Association (KGA), gave a major boost to the kiwi grower’s anticipations. It will enable big and small farmers to equally market their kiwis globally. “Through this MoU our kiwis will be exported to New Zealand, Australia and the European countries.” Murtem said, adding “Kiwi production this year is expected to cross last year’s record of 2800MT. We are expecting production in between 2900 to 3000 MT.”
NERAMAC is further expected to make few more trips to Ziro to lift kiwis, Kiwi Growers Association s-cum-agriculture deputy director-cum-KGA secretary Gyati Loder. (DIPRO)
