41 youths leave for Army recruitment

PASIGHAT, Nov 18: In all 41 youth of East Siang, Siang, Upper Siang and nearby districts left Sigar Military Station (SMS) of Indian Army for Tenga Valley on Sunday to face week-long recruitment rally there from November 20 next.

These youths, given pre-recruitment training for around a month by SMS, were send off by army officials led by Col Ankur Kulin.

In all 26 local youths have been recruited  by Indian Army with the help of SMS, the officers said, adding that recognizing these good efforts state Governor Brig (Retd) B.D. Mishra has awarded commendation medals to the SMS team involved in recruitment. More youths of this frontier state are likely to get better chance to join Indian Army, they added.

Governor’s repeated pursuance with the GoI for relaxation of strict recruitment criteria for Arunachal youths which will go a long way in facilitating them to serve the nation through the Army.
