ITANAGAR, Dec 08: Environment & Forest Minister Nabam Rebia, after inaugurating Innovation Hub and Space Education Centre at IG Park here on Saturday, exhorted the students to develop passion for science.
The event coincided with 3-day all India annual conference of heads of science centers/museums under the aegis of Arunachal Pradesh State Council for Science & Technology (APSCST) and union S&T department.
Pointing out that all deliberations of participants would enrich scientific knowledge, Rebia as chief guest, he exhorted students to take its full advantage including that of the science centre. He advised the students to strive hard to become scientists as young Indians have been shining all over the world in all spheres.
The science centre here may be named after former iconic Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpaye for his invaluable contributions to the nation, he said.
Responding to a demand by the chairman of APSCST chairman Bamang Mangha, he assured to provide land and forest clearance for a proper road
He hoped that participants from various parts of the country would be useful in formulating innovative ideas for growth of science in the state. He also lauded Mangha for pooling GoI resources for creating the useful new assets for the state.
In his keynote address earlier, guest of honour SM Khened dwelt at length on the history and growth of science in the country since incipience and threw light on ups and downs faced by the scientists during the formative years. The green revolution, changed the whole scenario to make India self-reliant in food production, which was the outcome of favourable policies of the government and untiring effort of scientists. He applauded Indian scientists for whom India had made a giant leap forward in S&T. While narrating the struggles made by the scientists all over the world to invent new things, he said that nothing could be achieved without passion and asked the students to have passion for success in life.
The innovative science centre would help bring mass awareness about importance of science in young minds, Mangha said and lauded the GoAP for all possible support.
S&T secretary G.Ete said that the department intended o spread awareness on importance and usefulness of science in everyday life as people in the past were not even aware of it.
