Inter-tribe marriages uniting tribal communities

AALO, Dec 18: The increasing inter-tribe marriages among different communities are on the rising and encouraging for brining unity, mutual trust and oneness among various tribes of Arunachal Pradesh.

One such marriage ceremony between Moli Lollen, S/o Dumo Lollen with Duyu Amung Lollen, D/o of  D. Tamo exposed various facets of marriage system in Galo and Apatani communities. The ceremony not only offers insights into each other’s customs and practices but reflective of how best inter-tribe marriage could be promoted by respecting each other’s way of life.

A 45-members Apatani marriage party led by Nani Hanya, Duyu Lampung and Duyu Tacho with traditional attires and items on their backs landed at Kombo Pomte village where they stayed during December 16 to 18.

The team too was cordially received at village with traditional Galo way by making ritual sacrifice and chanting for the wellbeing of the couples and family members. The team visited house to house on invitation by well wishers from dawn to dusk for days together as per prevailing Galo tradition. (DIPRO)
