Armed forces veteran rally draws huge response

PASIGHAT, Jan 06: The veterans rally 2019, conducted in Likabali Military Station on Sunday  drew huge attendance of 236 ex-servicemen, 4 veer naris, 31 widows, 7 disabled soldiers and 936 dependents from East Siang & Lower Siang districts of  Arunachal Pradesh and Dhemaji district of Assam.

The 56 Infantry Division GOC major general Ajai Verma, as chief guest, offered Rs 25000 each to veer naris and disabled soldiers besides other gifts. Naik LK Gohain, a disabled soldier from Dhemaji was presented with a mobility scooter to commemorate the Year of Disabled Soldiers.

The event concluded with an assurance to ensure timely follow up of all requirements raised by the veterans. The event saw 42 new registrations on Indian Army veterans portal besides free medical checkups and medicines for the veterans. Offices/agencies, like various banks, adhar card stall, LIC, ECHS, PCDA, ZSB, AFT, APN, ARO, police help desk, Suvigya stall, medical facilities and record offices were set up at one location for their benefits.

Dhemaji SP, Lower Siang ADC, Arunachal Pradesh home under secretary, ESM president Wg. Cdr. (Retd) Gyati Kago, group captain (Retd) Mohonto Panging Pao, among others, attended the rally.
