Si-Donyi Fest celebrated with traditional gaiety

AALO, Jan 07: Si-Donyi, popular festival of Tagin community, was celebrated with religious fervour and traditional gaiety at Gumin Kiin on Sunday.

Festivals are rare occasions to showcase our identities and all communities should feel proud to promote and preserve our rich culture, DMO Dr. Nyage Geyi said as chief guest. Recalling his five-year association with Tagins while serving at Daporijo, he hailed Tagin Cultural and Literature Society as one of the most vibrant society in promoting cultural values, faith and tradition besides setting good trends for others to emulate.

KKKK Enterprise chairman Ijum Karbak , speaking as guest of honour, insisted on handing over the mantle of rich cultural mosaic to younger generation.

West Siang DC Dr Swetika Sachan, as special guest, administered the election oath to the gathering.

Miss Arunachal 2017-18 Osin Mosu stressed on inculcating values and proper exposures to facilitate young boys and girls to reach bigger platforms.

Tabu Kamra, Piso Uli, Lobom Lida Tamin and others spoke on mythological significance of the festival. Prizes for various cultural competitions were distributed by three guests.
