ITANAGAR, Jan 19: The maiden three-day Itanagar International Film Festival will begin from February 22 next at Dorjee Khandu Convention Centre here in an effort to popularise local films and encourage film makers of Northeast, Arunachal Pradesh in particular,
Without an iota of doubt, cinema is the most powerful and effective medium of communication. The ensuing mega event will bring the people of the country, especially the NE closer through films. It will be a celebration of best of cinemas of the NE and the Far Eastern Asian Cinema.
The event, through its diligently planned programmes and workshops, will engage audience of all age groups gainfully.
A competition for the NE filmmakers is also a part of the festival. The cine NE competition for Feature Films only, invites the filmmakers of the eight sister states to submit their movies for the competition. Movies made in the last two years, from 01.01.17 to 31.12.18 only will be considered.
It is envisaged that noted film makers from the NE and other parts of the country will enrich the film festival through their films and enhance the esteem and grandeur of the much-hyped event. Needless to say that the 3-day film festival will go a long way to enthuse the young film makers of the region and will provide fillip and impetus to their dreams of becoming well known film personalities in the days to come. It is a God-send opportunity for them to take maximum advantage out of it, according to a release by the organisers.
