Workshop on Vitamin A, deworming conducted

PASIGHT, Feb 12: A day-long workshop-cum-training on ‘Implementation of projects on Vitamin A and deworming across rural population of Arunachal Pradesh’ was organised by National Youth Project (NYP) in collaboration with Vitamin Angels of Mumbai here on Tuesday.

APCC vice president Bosiram Siram, in his inaugural address, lauded both organizations and hoped that Arunachal people, Pasighat in particular will immensely benefit from such event. He stressed on participating of NGO & CBO members, SHGs, ASHAs and volunteers to motivate rural masses for healthy and happy life.

Highlighting about the theme through power point presentation, Deepa Khongla from Shillong as resource person, said that Vitamin A supplementation and deworming programme with micro multivitamin by Vitamin Angels. The training will be on what is Vitamin A, its role and importance for a child’s health. Why Vitamin A deficiency is present and how to tackle and cover the need for deworming the child and why it is important and who needs multivitamins.

The training aimed at ensuring that participants turn trainers as it focuses on correct practice for supplementation distribution only for prevention and not on treatment to require medical intervention.

NYP president HP Biswas spoke on detail plan and strategies of Vitamin Angels for welfare of children and women in India. He enlisted past events conducted with Vitamin Angels in the state.

Participants after group discussion interacted with nearby villagers and demonstrate way of practices and maintaining good health.
