Polling team airlifted to Pipsorang

ITANAGAR, Apr 05: State’s Mi-172 of Sky One Airways Pvt. Ltd airlifted 87 polling personnel from Koloriang to Pip-Sorang on Friday, civil aviation department sources told this daily over telephone.

These polling personnel will man Niobia (501 voters), Zara (492), Keba (497), Tedung (438), Pipsorang (445), Korsang (288) and Korapu (261) of Tali Assembly constituency on polling day on April 11.

This is second success after 32 polling personnel were airlifted by IAF MI-17 helicopter from Miao to Vijoynagar on Thursday to man four polling booths (PBs) of Miao Assembly seat & Arunachal East parliamentary constituency. The PBs are Ramnagar (252 voters), Gandhigram (1338), Vijoynagar (865), Two-Hut (726), according to Nirvachan Bhawan SNO Lod Takkar.

However, the polling team will walk on foot for eight hours on April 9 to reach Gandhigram, he said, adding without airlifting the teams would have tracked for six days on foot to Vijoynagar, located around 10-km from Myanmar border.
