ITANAGAR, Apr 13: The non-stop yangya since 7 am on April 6 by Manoj Ray and his wife wit pundits Ram Awatar Sharma and Nanda Kishore Upadhyaya culminated at Naharlagun Shiv temple during Saturday afternoon with the duo worshipping nine female and a male kids followed by others, all belonging to Bihar. It coincided with Ram Navami.
Though Ajay Ranjan Maharaj & P N Singh took the lead, but hundreds of women celebrated Ram Navami with devotion. Suman Singh and Kalavati Devi presented devotional dances to the tune of Bhojpuri songs which rented the air followed by partaking of prasad by all including large number children and local girls.
Ram Navami is a Hindu festival, celebrating the birth of Lord Rama to King Dasharatha of Ayodhya. While the festival is particularly important to Vaishnavite tradition of Hinduism, Ram Navami is a popular festival across the world. Rama was the 7th incarnation of Vishnu as mentioned in ancient Sanskrit epic Ramayana.
It marks the culmination of spring festival of Vasanta Navratri (Chaitra Navratri) which begins on Ugadi. However, Bihar, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh & Uttarakhand celebrate it on April 13 while Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Odisha, Telangana & Sikkim on April 14.
