PPA flays BJP for its undemocratic spirit

ITANAGAR, Apr 24: The People’s Party Arunachal (PPA) president Kahfa Bengia on Wednesday criticized ruling BJP, particularly party candidate Lokam Tassar and his supporters for not allowing democracy to flourish in his home district Krung Kumey.

Talking to this daily over telephone, he said that re-polling in nine polling booths  of Nyapin Koloriang Assembly constituency under Kurung Kumey district have been ordered by the Election Commission of India on April 27 next. He alleged that capturing of PBs, particularly Damin town, Taba, Nampe and Nikoriang had negated the very meaning of democracy or Govt.

When former US president Abraham Lincoln has defined it as “Government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the Earth”, such unethical practices go against the very spirit of democracy, he said, adding that democracy can survive only when the people are allowed to cast their franchise free and fairly.
