Philanthropist  Ruja’s death – end of an era

  • Civil society mourns deeply

ITANAGAR, May 15: Former president of Tanw Supun Dukun (TSD, apex council of Apatani) Khoda Ruja breathed his last on Wednesday at his Ziro residence at the age of 62.

He is survived by his wife, four sons three daughters and one grandchild.

Born on 01.03.57 to late Khoda Mudo and Khoda Dumi of Reu village of Lower Subansiri district, he did his schooling from Hapoli high school, graduated from JNC in 1997, did diploma in business to management from Shillong and productive & industrial engineering training from Madras.

He joined as industry assistant director on 05.12.80 and promoted as textile and handicrafts director in 1999 and contributed in various contributions.

In the GoAP in recognition of his meritorious services awarded Silver Medal in 1994, besides coinferred with Bharat Excellence Award and India Gold Star.  He also associated with many NGOs  development of society, including  as TSD president (11.12.16 to 18.12.16).

TSD under his leadership had worked closely with many community based organisation on various pertinent socio-cultural and political issues for harmony and inclusive growth and coexistence. He had actively participated with GoAP in shaping community related policies for development works. He was fondly liked by all sundry for his unmatchable principal and character who was a thorough gentleman with humbled personality and soft spoke. His contributions will be written with golden letters in the annals of social history.

The TSD members expressed their deepest condolences to bereaved family and prayed for his departed soul to rest in eternal peace. The TSD central executive body, governing council, extended executive Body and all sister bodies with full honour will bid farewell during his last rite at Ziro.

Meanwhile, officers and officials of state’s industries department, in a meeting, recalled that late Ruja was serving in their department, but remained with textile and handicraft department after bifurcation and rose to the rank of director. He was very cordial and kind hearted.

They conveyed their deep sense of condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.

The All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU, in its condole message, mourned his untimely demise while recalling his contributions as former  industries director and former TSD president

In his demise, “we have lost a great soul and a selfless social figure of our state,” the AAPSU said and stood with the Apatani community during this moment of grief and despair”.
