ITANAGAR, May 19: ESS Sector residents have urged Capital Complex district administration to avert any untoward incident by preventing plying of vehicles on arterial road of Upper ESS Sector as its dangerous culvert has been sinking and on the verge of collapse.
Enlisting numerous accidents which claimed few lives in the past, they said that the commuters have been plying two and four wheelers in the accident prone zone despite warning by the PWD and prohibitory order issued by district administration.
PWD Capital Division-B EE Tarh Gunkap, when contacted, said that the said culvert poses serious threat and any accident may takes place. Though warning signals and fencing were erected in the said area but no one cares for the warning and continues to cross the culvert.
Several correspondences have been made with district administration and disaster management in the past seeking funds for renovation of the ESS Sector that connects Raj Bhawan, Circuit House, Ganga via Capital SP office. Most portions of the road have been washed away while the said culvert is hanging like a cliff making it unsafe aid.
However, the state Govt has approved some fund for which the works will begin soon, he added.
