Workshop held on Rotavirus vaccines

PASIGHAT, May 28: East Siang DC Dr. Kinny Singh, in her inaugural address to a district level workshop aimed at introducing Rotavirus vaccine (RVV)  in the district here on Tuesday, said that the Govt has decided the vaccine, considered most effective in preventing  most severe and life-threatening cases of Rotavirus diarrhea.

Everyone should be made aware that first five drops of the vaccine should be administered prior to a child attaining one-year of age while two subsequent drops within 6th, 10th and 14th weeks. She urged health officials to ensure successful vaccination drive to bring down child mortality rate in the state.

She exhorted the people, especially the pregnant women to avail the benefit of PLUS, an innovative project to reduce rate of infant mortality and maternal mortality and encourage more and more institutional delivery.

DMO Dr. K. Dai also addressed the gathering including MO in-charges of PHCs, CHCs before DRCHO Dr. T. Gao imparted training. (DIPRO)
