Strong civil services key to governance: CM

ITANAGAR, June 11: Strengthening civil services is crucial as its effectiveness will form the strength of an efficacious development and governance process, Chief Minister Pema Khandu said while interacting with Arunachal Pradesh Civil Service Officers Association (APCSOA) members here Tuesday.

Unbiased, honest and efficient civil service is the core of the executive with responsibility to effectively monitor and implement all Govt policies and programmes, he opined to strengthen the civil service and said his Govt will accord highest priority to welfare of civil service officers. He said that it is his responsibility to ensure high morale of civil service officers. Responding to APCSOA’s plea, he assured to expedite timely submission of proposal for induction to IAS for state’s civil service cadre not to affect promotion of lower grade.

While discussing streamlining of APCS cadre grade posts and grant of time bound scales to APCS cadre, he assured to take cognizance of Bagra Committee report which recommends to replacing rudimentary nomenclature of extra assistant commissioner with assistant commissioner.

The meeting also discussed on possibility of young APCS officers taking opportunities of working in secretariat and policy making, regular conduct of DPC meeting.

Stressing for permanent bureaucracy for Arunachal, CM called for separate IAS cadre adding that the state Gov has been continuously lobbying with the Centre. (CMO)
