MV checking drive yields Rs 27,300 penalty

ITANAGAR, June 13: Rs 27,300 penalty was collected from traffic violators, mostly two-wheelers and tinted glasses of 280 vehicles removed during MV checking drive by Capital Complex district administration led by CO Laxmi Dodum, DTO C Wangsu, MVI T Soni and local police station OC G Tassa on Thursday.

As many vehicle owners were not abiding with Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989, the DTO had issued an order for the drive. The most common violation noticed were lack of high security registration number plates while many number plates were not Arabic English letters only as mandatory and without reflecting any personal choice for background, instead of white and numbers in black for private while red borders on top for Govt vehicles with super inscription. However, the background must be yellow case for commercial vehicles.
