AALO, June 18: The very low power transmitter (VLPT) installed at Darak was partially damaged when it fell down on roof of inspection bungalow.
The VLPTs installed in different locations, like Mechuka, Kaying, Yomcha, Darak, Liromoba, Tirbin, Basar and other places two decades ago are defunct since inception, and obsolete to gather dust only.
The VLPT though located in a prime place here but serves no purpose but poses threat due to encroachments and erosions from all sides. One wonders what would have happened if it had fallen in private house.
The DIPRO with the help of district administration had written many letters to Doordarshan Maintenance Centre, Itanagar for erecting retaining wall around the centre to protect from land encroachment and imminent danger it poses to the dwellers. But no tangible action has been initiated to by the authority so far. These VLPTs need to be dismantled immediately least causes danger when it falls to invite public wrath. (DIPRO)
