Families below Rs 2.5 lakh income | BADP may yield benefit

ITANAGAR, Jun 26: Families those living in border districts with annual income of lower than Rs 2.5 lakh may receive Govt benefits if plans under Border Area Development Programme (BADP) are approved.

Chief secretary Satya Gopal suggested this during  state level screening committee (SLSC) meeting on BADP here on Thursday.

Union MoHA has informed that Rs 65.489 crore (with 10% state share) for 2019-20 for Arunachal Pradesh under BADP has been tentatively allocated.

While assessing annual action plan (AAP) submitted by 15 DCs, he emphasized on beneficiary-oriented projects, and doubling of income of farmers through the BADP. Incorporate income-generating activities helping an average of 100 beneficiaries in each block of the model village under BADP, he said.

The schemes should percolate down to benefit the people, he said, adding the farmers or families of above income group should be selected apart from landless labourers, marginal farmers and small farmers as beneficiaries BADP scheme.

He also assessed status of VKVs under the BADP in Lazu, Nafra, Mukto, Amliang, Niusa Koloriang, and Chayangtajo. Tawang, West Kameng, East Kameng, Upper Subansiri, Kurung Kumey, Kra-Daadi, Shiyomi, Siang, Upper Siang, Lower Dibang Valley, Anjaw, Tirap, Changlang, Longding, and Dibang Valley DCs presented their respective AAP.

The SLSC selected the proposals with partial modifications giving special impetus to beneficiary-oriented and income-generation schemes to submit all pending utilization certificates within three months. (PRO)
