PASIGHAT, June 30: East Siang unit Adi Baane Kebang Women Wing team along with police seized several banned gambling items, like dice and housie from Saturday weekly market at Bakkul, in between Borguli and Seram villages, under Mebo sub-division on Saturday.
Rampant sale of IMFL is part of gambling against which East Siang ABKWW has spearheaded a movement.
The surprise checking was conducted on receipt of several public complaints, said ABKWW GS Oming Jamoh Pertin and vice president Jimmy Dai Doming, adding many gamblers fled from the scene with their gambling items.
No one was arrested or booked but market committee president Amit Modi gave an undertaking not to allow such gambling in future, Pertin said.
Pointing out that many women have been addicted to gambling resulting in loss of huge money and ruining their happy family life, ABKWW and ABK East Siang unit have urged one and all to refrain from such banned activities which have turned into a serious concern for Adi society or else they would be forced to act against them.
