ITANAGAR, Jul 15: Heavy monsoon rains continued to batter normal life across Arunachal Pradesh, including in Capital Complex while Guwahati-based Regional Meteorological Centre predicting more rainfall in NE region.
The flood havoc so far has claimed two lives in Tawang district while another has been is missing after cloudburst in Singchung area of West Kameng district on July 8 last, disaster management director Kanto Danggen said on Monday.
Two houses, including a GoAP quarter, were damaged in West Kameng while another house was collapsed in West Siang district due to incessant rainfall, but there has been no report of any human casualty. An SPT house of one Dal Bahadur of Tenga Valley was damaged due to landslide, a type-II quarter of power department located at Balemu and one house at Panya village in West Siang collapsed due to continuous rain, he said, adding the road between Balemu to Shikaridanga got blocked., was collapsed.
Lower Dibang Valleyis the worst-hit for which relief materials for flood affected people of Paglam sub-division have reached Tarotamak Ghat for further distribution. District HQs Roing has been reeling under darkness for last three days while power supply has been restored in Dibang Valley district HQs Anini after six days, he informed.
An under construction protection wall at Jangdo Pere Gompa, Jang in Tawang was totally washed by flood water while few households in Jyotipur and Dumpani villages in Changlang were affected due to spillage of water from Noa-Dehing river. A team has been assessing damage whose report is expected soon, he added.
Several dwelling houses have also collapsed in Capital Complex district and RCC building of Pate Tara in E Sector, Naharlagun was damaged by landslide on Monday morning while commuters have been facing tough due to road blockage and collapse of portion of NH-415.
