ITANAGAR, July 19: Jorhat-based Indian Army North East recruitment zone deputy director general Brig Vinay Mohan Sharma called on Governor Brig. (Retd) B.D. Mishra at Raj Bhavan here on Friday when they discussed about steps for optimum recruitment of state youth by simplifying procedures.
Dr Mishra emphasized that Initiative should be taken by the GoAP, DCs in particularly, to reach out to capable youth living in far-off flung areas through awareness campaign for them to take part in recruiting rallies.
The governor, who had initiated ‘Pay back to Society Group’ for creating awareness about Indian Armed Forces, said that interested youth should know the procedures and the details of recruitment process for them to prepare to meet the required benchmark. A concerted effort is needed to ensure more and more youth join Indian Armed Forces, he said.
Indian Army units stationed in various locations of the state, on the governor’s request in the past, have assisted many youth by providing boarding, lodging and other help, for them to join the armed forces.
Earlier, Brig Sharma, who was accompanied by director Col. M.A. Khan, briefed the governor about challenges in recruitment process. (PRO)
