Water crisis grips Aalo, restoration on

AALO, July 22: Unprecedented water crisis gripped this district HQs town due to extensive damages of headwork of all water sources from Ene, Hisum, Hide rivers and Panya stream due to incessant rains in the intervening nights of July 20 and 21.

Considering the gravity of the situation, PH&WS department has taken up restoration works on war footing while many civilians have joined voluntarily. As restoration is a time consuming process, the PH&WS has initiated alternative arrangements to ensure drinking water supply through private vehicles. Large chunk of the population was hit by water crisis for a week after Ene River head work was damaged but restored by the PH&WS.

Aalo East MLAi Kento Jini along with PH&WS engineers visited the site. Though supply was restored but flood fury after two days caused damages leading to major crisis. Thus, man and machines have been deployed to speed up the works. (DIPRO)
