Swami’s teachings more relevant today: Mein

DEOMALI, Sept 11: Teachings of Swami Vivekananda are more relevant today than September 11, 1893 when he had addressed the World Religious conference at Chicago to give a clarion call for ‘universal brotherhood’, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein said here on Wednesday.

In his address to valedictory function of 125th anniversary of Swami’s Chicago address at Narottam Nagar Ramakrishna Mission here, he said:

“Today is a golden lettered day of Indian history as the world this day had discovered a new India – mesmerizing and enchanting, enabling and all-encompassing as Swami Vivekananda rose to speak in Chicago.”

While applauding Ramakrishna Mission for its service in education & health sector besides taking up relief works, he assured the monks that the GoAP will strive more to increase its support as they add on to their responsibilities for welfare of Arunachal people. “We want Ramakrishna Mission to provide best possible education for our children become the best without going elsewhere. I am extremely glad to know that this year’s topper for class-X CBSE Jirdam Gameh is from this school. I congratulate you all and hope it will continue to produce the best,” he said.

While sharing his experiences with the students, he said they should make Swamiji their icon to lead an ideal life. He exhorted them to follow Swami’s teachings which would keep them close to their cultural roots.  Terming students as state’s human resources, he requested them to work hard to bring about qualitative changes in the society. He exhorted them to strive hard to fulfill their aims and aspirations by inculcating human values, like will-power, inquisitiveness, discipline, creativity, self-confidence etc to overcome all challenges of life.

On a three-point memorandum submitted by Ramakrishna Mission secretary, the DyCM assured to look into their demands and discuss the matters with authorities concerned.

PHE&WS Minister-cum-Namsang MLA Wangki Lowang, who accompanied the DyCM, sharing his youth days’ experience, stressed on adopting the righteousness path shown by Swamiji for a better tomorrow and.

Mein and Lowang gave away prizes to students who took part in various competitions.

Itanagar RKM Hospital secretary Maharaj Swami Vishweshananda, Narottam Nagar RKM School secretary Swami Achyuteshananda and principal brahmachari Tadatmachaitanya also spoke.

Earlier, DyCM along with Lowang inaugurated Ramakrishna Mission Sarada Vidyalaya and paid obeisance to Lord Buddha statue in school campus and offered flowers to Holy trio amidst vedic chanting. (PRO)
