AAPSU condemns Sahani’s death, takes exception to market closure & protest

ITANAGAR, Oct 09: All Arunachal Pradesh Student’s Union (AAPSU) vehemently condemned forceful closure of shops, disruption of vehicular movement and illegal protest rally in Naharlagun by the non-APST community members on Wednesday.

While strongly condemning the reported death of one Dinesh Sahani after being assaulted in Naharlagun helipad area on Tuesday, AAPSU president Hawa Bagang, in a release, took strong exception to such illegal rally and forceful closure of shops even after the culprits were reportedly arrested by the police.

As per witness accounts and videos submitted to the AAPSU, these protestors had assembled in large numbers in various parts of Naharlagun, tried to create disturbances and communal disharmony in the state. Why was the police and district administration remained silent when such illegal activities were being organized in broad daylight by the protestors in name of seeking justice when the culprits have already been apprehended?

Viewed the matter very seriously, the AAPSU warned individuals, groups etc from outside the state not to try and provoke the sentiments & aspirations of state’s indigenous people. Any such attempts shall be met with strong repercussions from the AAPSU. The union shall not remain silent to such provocations and appeals to all individuals, especially outsiders to respect the law of the land and the sentiments of indigenous people. The authorities should launch immediate investigations and trace out the persons behind the illegal rally and forceful closure of shops, the release added.
