Devotees bade watery farewell to Devi Durga

The week-long Durga Puja concluded on Tuesday with immersion of idols by dozens of pandals set up in Capital Complex, including Itanagar, Naharlagun and Nirjuli in Dikrong River on Tuesday.

Large number of police personnel led by Papum Pare SP Jimmy Chiram and Naharlgun SDPO Reke Kamsi keeping close watch that prevented any untoward incident. However, while the immersion process continued with devotees dancing with great fanfare, heavy down pour lashed Capital Complex from 4 pm for about an hour but failed to dampen the spirit of the devotees.

An expert on Indian philosophy termed it as blessing of Devi Durga for good harvest in coming seasons for greater welfare of her devotees.

Tuesday witnessed numerous activities including Sindura Khela by women devotes in front her statue before the impression procession begun and on return the devotees assembled in their respective pandals for the last ritual Santibari in which tying Aparaita amidst chanting of hymn by pundit Manoj Chakraborty.

Majestic NERIST puja pandal received uncounted devotees, particularly on Maha Asthami and Navami, who travelled on vehicles that jammed Naharlagun-Nirjuli highway for hours together.
