ITANAGAR, Oct 30: Governor Brig. (Retd) B.D. Mishra and Chief Minister Pema Khandu have greeted Arunachal Pradesh people on Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on Thursday, which will commemorate birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, popularly known as Iron Man of India.
Sardar Patel played a leading role in the Indian freedom struggle and became the first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of India and undertook the colossal task of obtaining accession of over 562 princely states for political integration to give visible shape to India’s uniqueness ‘unity in diversity’, the governor said in his message and hoped that the occasion will further strengthen the unity and integrity of India.
“With India progressing further, we as a nation will become stronger and fully developed”, the message added.
This occasion also known as National Unity Day will commemorate his 144th birth anniversary; The CM said and reiterated how his untiring efforts integrated the country as one entity following India’s independence.
“As one of the founding leaders of India, he had worked hard to make India as Ek Bharat. To create Shreshth Bharat, he had exhorted people to live together for which this nation owes Sardar Patel for its present federal structure,” he said.
Pointing out that the GoI introduced Rashtriya Ekta Diwas in 2014 to pay tribute to him on his birth anniversary and its observance since then has a special significance as it completed the task of making Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh an integral part of India by abrogating Article 370. “This truly represents his dream of an integrated India,” the CM added.
