BADERDEWA, Nov 08: The Arunachal Pradesh Police (APP) should rise to meet high expectations of common people, Governor Brig (Retd) B D Mishra said while addressing 47th raising day celebration of APP at Police Training Centre here on Friday.
Every cop should ensure self discipline, physical fitness, mental alertness, perceptive mind, honesty, sacrifice, hard work and respect for law, he said, adding officers and personnel should voluntarily accept new posting places as obligation to duty, irrespective of soft, tough or operational.
Underscoring recruitment on merit, proper training and exemplary leadership by every senior cops right for head constable to DDP, he said that the GoAP will continue its welfare measures for them besides building infrastructures. He advocated cooperation among the army, para military forces and civil police to ensure security of the nation.
Highlighting his experiences in security management, he advised them to be proactive and know the people under their jurisdiction, keep their eyes & ears open and mouth shut, ensure impartial & proper investigation, cultivate confidence among the people about the police & policing to help every individual in need across the board without any discrimination.
Expressing concern over drug addiction among the youth, he called for ‘zero tolerance towards drug abuse’ and advised the APP to take up special drive against it.
Earlier, he took salute of march-past including by Vajra – anti-riot control vehicle & anti-riot bullet proof vehicles. He laid wreath at the Martyrs’ Memorial on his arrival.
He presented Indian Police Medal to DIGP (HQ) Kime Kaming, Jeevan Raksha Padak Medal to inspectors Padi Paying & Abraham Taying and Union Home Minister’s Medal for excellence in police training to head constable Talin Motu and constable Tsering Tashi besides ‘Best Parade Contingent’ to Dayun-based 2nd IR Bn. He also commended the contingents for their smart turnout and march-past to the excellent tune of PTC brass band.
Later, he inaugurated exhibition stalls of arms display, road safety & traffic, wireless telecommunication, state disaster response forces, fire & emergency services, anti sabotage & security, anti-riot equipment, APP & Housing Welfare Corporation Ltd.
