ITANAGAR, Nov 12: Governor Brig. (Retd) B.D. Mishra, after visiting regional mental hospital at Midpu on Tuesday, suggested to keep the inmates engaged through skill development and hobbies by involving NGOs working for psychiatric patients.
After interacting with medical officers, inmates and inspecting wards and office complex, he called for fair dealing with inmates which unfortunately was not visible. He stressed on concerted efforts for early recovery of the inmates. He exhorted local MLA Tana Hali Tara and Papum Pare district officials and TRIHMS doctors present to facilitate manpower and facilities to improve the hospital.
Psychiatrists Dr. Hanya Payee and Dr. Arti Namchoom briefed about the hospital, whose building was sanctioned in 1989 and handed over to health department in 2014. It was made operational in 2016 at the initiative of the then CM Kalikho Pul. (PRO)
