PASIGHAT, Nov 12: The first state level Kho-kho championship will be conducted here during December 3 to 12 to encourage young generation to excel in traditional games and sports, Education Minister TabaTedir has said here on Tuesday.
Tedir, also Kho-Kho Association of Arunachal Pradesh (KKAP) president, was addressing a coordination meeting about the event
He support of local MLA, Kaling Moyong and district administration, particularly DC Dr. Kinny Singh and SP Rajiv Ranjan Singh for its success. He said that the GoAP has focused on holistic education by encouraging games and sports in schools. Under scoring importance of games and sports in the all-round development of students, he said kho-kho promotes mental and people of all ages.
He also exhorted the school administrators and teachers to ensure imparting quality education to shape their future. Most of the officers, technocrats and UPSC achievers are products of GoAP schools, he said and stressed on their collective role.
Moyong assured all support for the mega event while school education director Gania Leij earlier said the eent aimed at promoting Indian traditional games and sports under Khelo India initiative. Around 800 players from various schools will take part in U-17 age group. (DIPRO)
