ITANAGAR, Jan 12: Arunachal Badminton Academy (ABA) was launched in a simple ceremony at MLA Cottage Badminton Court premises here in presence of sports personalities, particularly badminton lovers.
Badminton Association of India (BAI) Member-cum-national coach (junior & sub-junior) Sanjay Mishra, addressing the gathering said that the state huge sports potential s observed during his weeklong stay here while the people, particularly youths are sports enthusiasm but need proper training and guidance to hone up their talent.
Several state players have tried their luck at national and global levels but failed while present generation would become rise to that pedestal in various games, including badminton. It is an opportunity given by the GoAP for according importance to sports, he said, adding the state players would excel if good coach and trainers are available.
The ABA would cater to the needs of budding badminton talents, he said and urged all badminton lovers and parents to avail the opportunity to learn and win laurels for the state and nation.
Experienced coach and technical persons have been engaged to impart proper training to budding talents, he said and assured to visit state as and when required to monitor training outcome.
Arunachal State Badminton Association (ASBA) secretary Bamang Tago said that there are several parents who desire training for their wards which was not possible but due to lack of proper coach. The ABA would serve as a milestone while upcoming Dorjee Khandu State Badminton Academy would add another new chapter, he said.
The registration of desired players for limited batch is on while the BA initially would train children in MLA Badminton Hall and other places would also be considered in future, he added.
