NAHARLAGUN, Jan 24: Capital Complex Police nabbed a robber armed with a revolver here on Thursday, who led to arrest of a drug trafficker from Banderdewa on Friday with suspected heroines in his possession, SP Tumme Amo informed.
A robber entered old M-Mart Shopping Solution in D Sector near Hati Matha here at 7 pm on the pretext of buying clothes. He rushed towards cash counter after seeing few clothes, took out his revolver and pointed it to sales executives and demanded all cash be handed over to him. After getting around Rs 5,000, he started scuffling with the sales executives when few onlookers joined, the SP said.
However, a police team of PCR-6 stationed near by rushed to the spot to overpower the robber, seized one 0.32 calibre revolver with 5 live rounds from his possession. Later, he identified himself as Karba Bogo, original resident of West Siang but presently living in Polo Colony here now, he said, adding a case (No. 11/20 u/s 387 IPC R//W sec. 25(1B) (a)/ 27(1) Arms Act) was registered with Naharlagun PS and investigation launched.
Amo visited the crime scene on Thursday followed by interrogating of the accused with Naharlagun PS OC Insp Khiksi Yangfo when he claimed that he had stolen the licensed revolver from his brother-in-law, a 4th semester LLB student of Arunachal Law Academy, Lekhi, and committed the crime under the influence of drugs. He also claimed that he had purchased drug capsules from some trafficker of Assam side at Banderdewa.
The peddler reportedly has been selling drugs from a rented house at Niya Colony, near PTC and supplying to Itanagar/Naharlagun areas. Thus, SP Amo directed Banderdewa PS OC to trace and arrest other suspected drug traffickers.
Banderdewa police team led by PS OC R K Jha, ASI G. Bado, HCs S.K.Jha, S.P. Rai, N.Tada and G. Sengdo raided that rented house and recovered 80 vials (120.20 gram) suspected brown sugar, a mobile handset and suspected sale proceeds amounting to Rs 20,700. The house belonged to one Md Ashwad Ullah, 25, who was arrested. A case (No 001/2020 U/S-21(b) NDPS Act) was registered with Banderdewa PS and investigation launched.
This is seventh successful catch within about last one year and 13 peddlers have been caught by Banderdewa team to make Capital City drug free, SP Amo added.
