National Voters Day celebrated

BORUM, Jan 25: The National Voters’ Day (NVD) aims at educating the young voters to take part in election process and renew people’s faith in democracy, said Arunachal Pradesh Lok Ayukta Member Yeshi Tsering here on Saturday.

Addressing the state level 10th NVD, themed ‘Electoral Literacy and Stronger Democracy’, as chief guest, he exhorted one and all to uphold the pledge taken during the NVD as moral obligation to  ensure fair election process and   exercise our voting right  judiciously with proper. Congratulating booth level officers (BLOs), who were felicitated for outstanding service, he advised them to continue their good works and ensure that every eligible voters including physically handicapped are enlisted in voters’ list.

Highlighting importance of NVD as guest of honour, state election commissioner Hage Kojeen, urged the young voters to exercise their franchise in a free and fair manner to choose leaders with vision and ideologies in true spirit of democracy.

Underscoring significance of  the NPD, state’s chief  electoral officer Juhi Mukerjee asked the voters to educate themselves  to contribute to nation building.

Outstanding BLOs of Balijan, Leporiang, Parang, Kakoi, Doimukh, Kimin, Banderdewa, Naharlagun, Toru, Itanagar, Gumto, Sagalee, Silsango and Mengio were felicitated and each given certificate, and memento while winners of essay writing  and painting competitions were awarded.
