ZIRO, Jan 25: Chief Minister Pema Khandu after dedicating 4000-seating capacity Padi Yubbe outdoor stadium to the people of Lower Subansiri here on Friday, congratulated people of the district, Ziro Valley in particular, for having a modern outdoor stadium that would not only serve games and sports events but also in organizing special occasions.
The mega-infrastructure is a befitting tribute to one of the most luminous sons of the soil, CM Khandu said after unveiled memorial statue of Yubbe, first cabinet minister of Apatani community, and paid floral tributes to the departed.
The state Govt has been giving impetus to games and sports for state youth with immense inborn talent to excel, he said, adding that is why state-of-the-art sports infrastructure are being developed and comprehensive sports policy is being framed.
This is the third stadium after Pasighat and Daporijo to be made ready for use. Such big stadiums in various stages of completion are coming up at Aalo, Tezu and Chimpu near Itanagar, he said, adding the GoAP decided to fund these projects from own resources after the Centre discontinued funding projects under special plan allocation. That is why outdoor stadiums are being completed one after the other, he said.
On the status of Potin-Pangin 2-lane highway, he said that works of all nine packages will be allotted soon as tender process been completed. He urged district people not to harass the contractors and cooperate for smooth progress of work.
Responding to a public memorandum, he assured all support for completion of remaining works on the stadium. There will be no shortage of funds for completion of mini secretariat here and requested the PWD to complete the project by January 20 next. Earlier, he inspected the under construction mini secretariat.
