Ensure proper training of cops: Guv to HM

ITANAGAR, Feb 29: Home, Inter State Border Affairs, RD, PR& Parliamentary Affairs Minister Bamang Felix also called on Governor Brig. (Retd) B.D. Mishra at Raj Bhavan here on Friday when they discussed law and order, police restructuring, inter-state and other security related matters.

Dr Mishra stressed on proper training, empowerment, motivation and deployment of police constables to ensure a safe, secure, and peaceful Arunachal. Calling for transparent recruitment and their cross postings in police station, he said their posting to home police stations should rare situation, not a routine.

Expressing his concern about frequent ugly incidences of law and order, he advised him to take immediate steps to strengthen police intelligence network.

Sharing his experiences of recent meeting with SPs and commandants, he reiterated that the police has to be fair, prompt and determined to win confidence of the people. Earlier, Felix briefed the governor on state’s prevailing law and order situation.

Minister call on governor

Meanwhile, Dr Mishra discussed with Education Minister Taba Tedir steps for a strong foundation to strengthen primary education when he called  on the former later.

He suggested involving dedicated NGOs to promote education, including running Eklavya model residential schools.

Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Sansthan’s Vidhya Bharati (VB) president D. Ramakrishna Rao was also present. The VB is running 29 schools, including nine Kashturba Gandhi Balika Vidhyalayas in the State under Arunachal Shiksha Vikas Samiti banner. (PRO)
